Tonle Sap LakeThe Tonle Sap Lake is the heartbeat of Cambodia. It is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and is fed by the Mekong and the Tonle Sap River. It is among the top five biggest freshwater lakes in the world and is considered a geographical wonder. The lake measures an astonishing 2500 – 3000 square kilometers in the dry season, and increases four to five times that size in the wet season. Due to this natural phenomenon, the lake hosts a diverse and exciting array of flora and a great diversity of fish, reptiles, birds and mammals. Whole villages, schools and hospitals have been built on stilts right on the Great Lake.
